Play Multicam Sequences in Source Monitor - Avid Community - Space Details
Often, when I try to live cut to a camera angle while playing a sequence in mcam mode, playback stops as soon as I select a cam angle with mouse or num key. Am I overlooking something? Could it be a performance issue system doesn't seem to be stressed? Personally I never use mouse or num vree for switching cameras. I am always assigning the cams from the command pallette to the keyboard F-buttons. Since I had a sync point in the beginning of 3 cameras when the first file of the "problematic" camera ended it was still running the other 2 cameras and I did not have an idea as to how to add the third camera next file. You're doing it correctly.
Avid has hinted vaguely at multicam updates, but as of now you can't place multiple clips in a stream. This tutorial has been circulating for a couple of years which may or may not giv eyou some ideas:. Effectively, when you are doing a multicam edit, if one of the cameras is split in multiple clips, you need to make a new group clip for each one.

Some versions have dual CPU motherboards with only one installed and if that's the case you could add another, or swap out the one you have for a better one - you'd have to look at the documentation for your particular model. You could run a speedtest on your drives using the AJA speed test and see what you're getting but you'd definitely benefit from SSD media drives. I like the Zs, I think they are solid powerful machines depending on the configuration.
I think you could get more life out of it with some careful upgrades. Just my two cents. About Zs - I like them also. The motherboard allows two processors, but only one is installed. One more thing I would like to know. Do all media files to be used in multicam mode must be consolidated or one can use link to AMA? Does AMA plugins affect the stability in any way or not?
What is your opinion? I definitely wouldn't use AMA for multicam, considate the media to your storage. You really need something like 6 drives in a RAID 0 to achieve the same kind of performance, and a single drive failure is catastropic. Adding another processor probably won't help as much as you think. MC really only takes advantages of multiple cores for things like transcoding.
See if all 8 cores are maxing out during multicam playback. That would be the indicator. This configuration is legacy and not made by me. Simple 2 disk RAID 0 should achieve that. The likely cause of your bottleneck is the CPU. The modest bandwidth requirement is advantage over the high CPU demand. For awhile I did a show that was recorded on HDCam. I captured as SD DV anamorphic. That made for a very easy offine.
I then batch digitized in HD for delivery. Joined on Wed, Jun 28 Posts 1, Points 21, I'd be curious if MultiGroup works to show all angles in Source Monitor.
